Christopher Peter Meloni is an American actor, popular for his role in the popular television show 'Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Since his college days Meloni became interested in the field of acting. After that, he attended his home institution, the University of Colorado at Boulder. While he was active in TV and film and on stage, his appearances on the small screen have earned him a lot of recognition. The ability of his characters to appear from both sides of the law is a draw for viewers. He was the voice of a serial killer in his first television series project and then went on to play the role as an NYPD detective. For his work on the small screen, he's been up for nomination numerous times for the prestigious Emmy Awards. One of his most distinctive face features is thought to have been the piercing blue eye that has allowed him to portray characters who appear rough and fascinating. People's magazine listed him as one of the Sexiest Men Alive for 2006.
